Important Considerations
01.
When connecting the sensor, the colors of the cables must be respected, regardless of their order.
02.
When removing the damaged sensor, it is important to properly clean the pins where the new one will be placed. You can even twist them with needle-nose pliers about 15 or 20 degrees to ensure good quality contact.
03.
The computer only takes the measurement once the crutch is lifted (40 seconds later).
04.
It is essential to perform a full charge after changing the sensor so that it begins to measure correctly.
05.
Calibration is recommended in all cases, although the sensor can be installed without performing it, which will generate a reading with some error.
06.
Calibration can be performed with the sensor inside or outside the tank and with or without fuel (the fuel level does not modify the calibration in any way).
Frequently Asked Questions
1
Can I change the sensor without calibration?
It can only be performed when the ECU calibration values are valid. That is, a calibration must not have been attempted with a faulty sensor (this would cause the sensor parameters in the ECU to be in error). This is difficult to know, especially if the bike is second-hand. In any case, replacing the original strip with ours, without performing the calibration, will give an indication with a % error, which is why we always recommend calibrating.
2
I have changed the sensor and it gives incorrect indications.
Check the connector contact. Point 2 of the installation instructions is very important. This has happened on several occasions, the contact seems good, even passing calibration, but there is high contact resistance or false contacts that generate erratic indications or failures. In 100% of cases cleaning and twisting the connector pins to improve contact fixes the problem.
